Two things happened today that I thought I would share. Yes, this morning was still rough, but by this afternoon, I think I'm starting to wear him down and maybe some of the jibber-jabber I do all day long is sinking in. Here's the first story.
Mason and Lee watching the airplanes.
Mason and Lee watching the airplanes.Mason (4) and Spencer (1.5) are really great neighbors of ours. Liz (Mason's mommy) had brought her 2 boys over to our house to play for a few minutes before nap time this morning. Lee was being his usual self lately and was hitting Mason (which is normally not the brother of choice). Lee really looks up to Mason so I knew he just needed a nap and sent him upstairs to bed. Cut to this afternoon, after sleeping, Lee was asking for Mason. I said that he was sad and left because Lee was hitting him. I said that Mason won't want to play with him anymore if he keeps hitting his friends because it hurts and isn't nice. So Lee asked about 20 more times and he seemed pretty upset by it. Mind you, Lee has been hitting for over a year now and nothing has worked... so I wasn't being too mean. I'm just trying my darnedest to get him to stop. Anyways, this afternoon, after we've talked the same scenario over and over again, Lee goes over to the phone and says to me "phone... Mason... sorry". I'm totally serious. He wanted to apologize to Mason for hitting him. So we called Mason and Lee was so excited to talk to him. He did apologize too. Then he wanted to know why he couldn't go over to Mason's house right then and there and play. LOL.
Lee loves going to the store with Steve. Steve runs into things with the cart, chases him down isles, lets him eat things and plays hide and seek. Something that when I'm alone with Lee, I just don't do. We would still be grocery shopping if I did. He was so excited to go to the grocery store with me and Steve that this is what happened after calling Mason on the phone.
Steve had just come home from the chiropractor and had on socks and tennis shoes. Lee's habit is to go pick out the shoes he would like to wear. So he goes and gets his tennis shoes. Get Lee in socks and shoes, not really thinking anything of it. Steve then puts on his sunglasses and Lee goes "oh, my sungasses"? It hit me then that he was coping everything Steve was doing. He picked up that Steve was wearing tennis shoes, not sandals. Then he wanted sunglasses just like him too. He's so stinkin cute!! That totally made my day a million times better! Everyday is a new adventure.
