Lee's New Room

I remember when I was little, looking outside at the pretty snow and wishing so bad I could go out and play in it. This morning Lee was in kind of a funk and just wanted to cuddle with his "blankie and bink". We usually only allow these to stay in his room, so he headed upstairs to find them and spend some quiet time looking out his window and snuggling.

I tried playing peek-a-boo with him, but he was pretty quiet still, so I left him to cuddle some more. I got him his new"Cars" book to see if reading would help. Although he was happy doing that for awhile, he still wasn't smiling. So we just had to break all the rules in the book and jump on his bed. He had fun doing that and I was able to get my smiley monkey boy back.

Gosh, I know I'm going to miss the day when he doesn't carry around his blanket and bink anymore. He always looks so much smaller to me when he has those two things with him. I'm glad I was able to get a few good shots of Lee with his two favorite items.

A Reminder...

When Lee is 16 and sucking up to me because he wants something that I'm saying "NO" to, I'm going to remind him of the other days conversation. Yes, he's 2. Yes, I shouldn't hold him responsible, but I'm going to. Because I'm that kind of Mom. :)

Lee: Daddy I really MISS you! (lots of emphasis on 'miss')
Steve: I missed you too! Did you miss Mommy?
Lee: Nope

End.of.conversation!!!

PS - It was a tad bit cute that he came up with it all on his own and out of the blue to Steve. AND I do love their bond that they have! Well... most of the time ;)

Another "ism"

Remember when this was his only expression he had? He really had us worried that he wouldn't be able to smile. Ha, ha, now I look at pictures of it and laugh. I'm so glad I have this one captured to remember it by. Look at his hands folded so nicely.

Anyways onto today. I have another Lee-ism too add. Today we were all in the basement and Lee really wanted to go upstairs to watch a show. After asking 20 times and saying "no" he tried a different approach.

Lee: Mommy, Mommy, I have someting to show you.
Me: What is it?
Lee: Come with me, it's uppa stairs.
Me: Just tell me what is it.
Lee: No I show you.
Me: Lee, just tell me what it is.
Lee: Are you comin' or not?

He cracks me up! He was really funny today. There were a bunch of these little phrases but this one stands out the most in my head.

These were taken from a little photo session I did with my neighbor and all of our kids. They really turned out cute and I'm so glad that I have a neighbor friend that enjoys photography if not as much as I do, even more ;)

Lee-isms and much, much more!

Lees vocabulary has grown so much in the last few months. It's so hard to imagine he just turned 2, let alone talking almost always in complete sentences. He very, very rarely ever asks for anything with just one word. It's most likely always "Lee wants..." or sometimes he gets it right and says "I want...". He's also been trying to figure out the "I's", "Me's", "You's", "Are's", "We's" and "Ing's". He's been adding "ing" to a lot of his words and it doesn't fit.

Lee-isms:

A couple weeks ago he came into my bedroom (mind you 5:30am) and this is what was said:
Lee: Momma find bink? (aka pacifier)
Me: No Lee, you go find it. Look on your bed.
Lee: No, Momma find it FOR Lee. (the FOR he accentuated).

Another time, we had just gotten back from my Moms house and she likes to tell her dog to "shut up" a lot. Not in a mean way, just a "shut up Lucy". Etc. Lucy does bark a lot... but this is what Lee said.
Me: Lee, can you do something (I had asked him to do something for me).
Lee: Shut up Momma.
Me: (trying really hard not to laugh) Lee that wasn't nice, we don't talk like that to people. Please obey and do (this).
Lee: Momma, I say, S-H-U-T U-P!!! (he spoke slowly and loudly on that one).

The other morning he comes up to me and says "Momma, I love you TOO MUCH". :) (We always tell Lee that we love him SO much, but he came up with "too much").

The other night I was having some contractions and didn't really want to move. Lee was insisting on me helping him with his train track. I asked him to wait and he asked why.
Me: Because my stomach hurts.
Lee: Gotta poop Momma.
Me: No honey, baby sister is making mommas stomach hurt.
Lee: Lee's tummy hurts, the poop comes.
Lee: (came over and rubbed my boob, he gets confused where my stomach is sometimes) Mommy go on potty and poop comes?
Me: Yeah buddy, Mommy will have to try that to feel better. (laughing).
*I just had to give up because the only reason I ever give him for his stomach hurting is pooping and that is usually the reason why his hurts, he has no idea why mine could hurt any different.

Lately whenever I ask Lee to help with something or do something like clean up his toys, or put this away, he will look at me and smile and not move at all. It's frustrating, but here's an example of how he picks up on everything I say.
Lee: (listening to the dogs fighting over food upstairs, we were in the basement) What's that noise?
Me: The doggies fighting over food.
Lee: Hold on, no move (and he goes upstairs)
Lee: (talking to the doggies) No noises. Hear me, I say NO ... NOISES!!!!
*I guess I have been asking if he's heard me a lot lately.

We went to Brookfield Zoo today and Steve took Lee into the Aquatic House. I sat in the shade on the bench to rest my legs. Here's the conversation that followed their little trip:
Lee: (running up to me) Momma, I's braving!
Me: You're brave?
Lee: Yep, I's braving the water.
Me: (looking to Steve for help) Huh?
Steve: (to Lee) Tell Mommy how you were really brave.
Lee: Momma, MOMMA, I braving the water, scary. Big water coming, coming, whosh, scary. No scary, I's braving!!
Me: Great job buddy!! (looking to Steve for help again)
Steve: Lee was really scared for the giant wave and didn't like it. We talked it over and watched it again and realized that it wasn't so scary after all. So he was very brave and watched it 3 more times. Now he loves it.
*There's a plexi glass window that is in front of you and above you. A giant wave comes every minute or so and splashes like 100 gallons of water at you. It makes you jump and IS pretty scary even when you know it's coming. We were really proud of Lee for sticking to his guns and working through being scared.

In the car he doesn't like traffic. He's realized that when there are cars, we don't move as fast. He used to tell us "faster, faster" but now that he can see the cars and realizes we can't run them over, he says that we're "stuck". Well, lately he's been adding "ing" to the end of a lot of his words. Here's an example:
Lee: Mommy, too many cars?
Me: Yeah, there's a lot of cars. Watch your movie, it will be awhile till we're home. (we were in a pretty tight traffic jam).
Lee: Too many stucking cars.
Me: (Me cracking up laughing my head off), Yeah we're stuck with a lot of cars!

Other words that I hear on a regular basis:
- No like it. (whenever he doesn't want something)
- No thank you.
- Y-O-U (yelling this at us, it's his way of showing he's frustrated and he just keeps yelling that at us).
- "Shh, Unca Matt is slee...pin". (whenever he wants it to be quiet).
- Check-a-butt (whenever he needs his diaper changed).
- Hold on, no move.
- Lees baby sister? (whenever we see a little girl. We're working on this one).

Lee still asks on a regular basis for Oatmeal every morning. He's had other things, but just loves his oatmeal. He's getting pretty good at asking for pancakes too, which we make quite often!

For a snack he will either ask for a nutrigrain bar or goldfish.

At bedtime he will ask for me to read him books and when I tell him no more books he will usually try to then put me to bed. He turns off his light, closes his door, turns on his fan, then crawls in bed and tries to give me his blanket and bink. He will then tell me "shhh, nigh, night Mommy" "close - a - eyes" as he rubs my arm.

In the morning he will bring me his diaper and wipes, get me his 3 packets of oatmeal, let the dogs out of the laundry room and into the backyard, bring me their bowls to fill, and after their filled he goes and puts them where they go, he yells for Kota to go into the "laundry room" because that is where she's fed, and gives the doggies their "treats/medicine". He's such a big helper! I'm so happy that he loves to help me and doesn't fight me on these things. It will hopefully make it a little easier with the baby coming!!

As you can see, he keeps me on my toes pretty much every day. Everyday, there's something new and something funny that he's doing. He is just so full of life and loves trying to do things. Sometimes that "life" is bad things, but I wouldn't change it for the world! We love him so much! It's hard to imagine loving a 2nd child as much as I love Lee.

Lee Singing "Spider Man" and "Bob the Builder"

Lee wanted to play the piano today so I let him and this is what he sat down and did. It was so cute that I ran and grabbed my camera.

Learning a lesson and shoes!

Two things happened today that I thought I would share. Yes, this morning was still rough, but by this afternoon, I think I'm starting to wear him down and maybe some of the jibber-jabber I do all day long is sinking in. Here's the first story.Mason and Lee watching the airplanes.

Mason (4) and Spencer (1.5) are really great neighbors of ours. Liz (Mason's mommy) had brought her 2 boys over to our house to play for a few minutes before nap time this morning. Lee was being his usual self lately and was hitting Mason (which is normally not the brother of choice). Lee really looks up to Mason so I knew he just needed a nap and sent him upstairs to bed. Cut to this afternoon, after sleeping, Lee was asking for Mason. I said that he was sad and left because Lee was hitting him. I said that Mason won't want to play with him anymore if he keeps hitting his friends because it hurts and isn't nice. So Lee asked about 20 more times and he seemed pretty upset by it. Mind you, Lee has been hitting for over a year now and nothing has worked... so I wasn't being too mean. I'm just trying my darnedest to get him to stop. Anyways, this afternoon, after we've talked the same scenario over and over again, Lee goes over to the phone and says to me "phone... Mason... sorry". I'm totally serious. He wanted to apologize to Mason for hitting him. So we called Mason and Lee was so excited to talk to him. He did apologize too. Then he wanted to know why he couldn't go over to Mason's house right then and there and play. LOL.

Lee loves going to the store with Steve. Steve runs into things with the cart, chases him down isles, lets him eat things and plays hide and seek. Something that when I'm alone with Lee, I just don't do. We would still be grocery shopping if I did. He was so excited to go to the grocery store with me and Steve that this is what happened after calling Mason on the phone.

Steve had just come home from the chiropractor and had on socks and tennis shoes. Lee's habit is to go pick out the shoes he would like to wear. So he goes and gets his tennis shoes. Get Lee in socks and shoes, not really thinking anything of it. Steve then puts on his sunglasses and Lee goes "oh, my sungasses"? It hit me then that he was coping everything Steve was doing. He picked up that Steve was wearing tennis shoes, not sandals. Then he wanted sunglasses just like him too. He's so stinkin cute!! That totally made my day a million times better! Everyday is a new adventure.*Pictures were taken at the Joliet Air Festival last month.

Some Days...

You know how some days are really hard to be around your child? And some days you want to run away from them? Today was a hard day for Lee to listen. He did everything from throwing his cup in the toilet, spitting milk everywhere, spitting in general, yelling on the top of his lungs, and rubbing shampoo all over his body like lotion (even though I told him 15 times that he didn't have the lotion). It was just a hard day. Thought since I document all the good and funny stuff, I'd blog about a frustrating day too ;)

Funny Story

Today I was having a rough time getting Lee to stay in his bed. He kept getting out and going in my room to "play". One time I went up there and he had emptied my chap stick. I asked him where it all went and his reply was "oh, cheeks, lotion". He had rubbed the WHOLE chap stick on his checks. They smelled like cherries the rest of the evening!

Crazy kid!

Out To Dinner!

Lee and I went and helped my friend Amy and her little daughter tonight and then went out to dinner. Lee is big on making his own choices now for what he wants to eat. So this is what happened.

Me: Lee, would you like a hot dog or Mac N Cheese for dinner?

Lee: Ummm, Hot Gogg

Me: Ok, but Maple is getting Mac N Cheese are you sure you don't want that?

Lee: No, Hot Gogg

Me: Ok, sounds good

(About 20 minutes later after Lee got his hot dog and Maple has her Mac N Cheese)
Lee: (takes bite of hot dog, then spits it into my hand) Yucky, no like it!

Me: What? You wanted a hot dog?

Lee: No hot gogg, yucky, I Mac N Cheese?

So, what do you do?? He eats hot dogs just about every other day. I know that he LOVES them, which is why I didn't argue when he wanted one. Everyday I'm just astonished at what he says. Today seemed like it was one of those days where he woke up and was talking everything he wanted. It's crazy how fast he learns. I've never heard him say "no like it". He says yucky all the time, but not the no like it part. He just cracks me up!

Here's a picture from last week of Maple and Lee at Brookfield Zoo. She just turned 3 in March.
